Jeremy Clarkson has dismissed Chris Packham’s recent criticism of Clarkson’s Farm as misguided and unfair. The Springwatch presenter and naturalist erupted into a passionate rant on Celebrity Gogglebox, where he condemned the Amazon Prime show for portraying an idealized version of farming.
During the Channel 4 program, Chris Packham watched an episode of Clarkson’s Farm with his stepdaughter, Megan McCubbin. He declared, “That’s not what a farm looks like. Most farms are dreadful monocultures, heavily sprayed with harmful chemicals. The soil is drenched in fertiliser, and many animals are confined indoors in cramped crates.” He argued that the show’s opening credits gave viewers a misleadingly rosy impression of farming.
However, Jeremy Clarkson was quick to respond in his column for The Sun. He revealed that Chris previously visited Diddly Squat Farm in 2012, spending a day birdwatching and foraging in the woods. “If he had truly witnessed animals being crushed in crates or other such mistreatment, surely he would have spoken up then,” Jeremy pointed out.

He branded Chris’s assertions as “b******s” and emphasized that the show depicts real farming, including challenges and realities. Harriet Cowan, a fellow Clarkson’s Farm cast member, joined the conversation by sharing Chris’s comments on her TikTok account, sarcastically dubbing him “the BBC’s impartial presenter.” She challenged Chris to back up his claims with facts and showcased footage from her own farm, highlighting healthy livestock roaming freely across the countryside.
The public exchange highlights the polarizing views on modern farming practices, but Clarkson stands firm that his program offers an honest, if sometimes humorous, glimpse into the realities of British farming.
