James Martin marked the end of the current season of his ITV show, Saturday Morning, with a warm farewell before the summer break. Since its launch in 2017, the show has been a beloved weekend fixture, following Martin’s decade-long tenure presenting BBC’s Saturday Kitchen.
On June 6, the episode featured special guests including Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton, chef Mike Reid, and award-winning chocolatier Mark Tilling. The show began an hour late due to ITV Racing: The Opening Show occupying its usual time slot, but the delay did little to dampen the enthusiasm.
As the episode drew to a close, James took a moment to address viewers directly. “Before we go, because it’s our final show before the summer break, we’ve got to finish off with some ice cream,” he said with a smile. Expressing his gratitude, he thanked his guests and the production team, adding, “This is the last show before me and the crew head off for the summer break. We’ll see you back in autumn. Have a good summer, bye for now!”

The show’s social media channels had already shared the news, building anticipation for the upcoming hiatus. Fans flooded the comments with supportive messages. One viewer said, “Can’t wait! I’m a huge fan of Mark Tilling! Hoping to see Paul Ainsworth back soon – always brilliant when he’s on!” Another wrote, “Well done for all your hard work and making the show happen. See you next season.” Many expressed sadness about the break but praised the show’s lineup and James’s hosting.
For those missing the weekend ritual, Saturday Morning will return refreshed after the summer, continuing to bring cooking, conversation, and celebrity guests to ITV viewers. The show is also available now on ITVX for catch-up viewing.
