James Martin has announced that he and the ITV team will be taking a well-earned summer break from their beloved cooking show, Saturday Morning. Closing out the latest episode, James expressed his sincere thanks to viewers and guests alike.
“That’s all we have got time for today, a massive thank you to all of my guests,” he said warmly. He gave a special shout-out to his dedicated culinary crew: “My food team, you can sleep better now. Daniel and Sally, and of course, Harry Redknapp and Carly Paoli.”
Revealing that this episode marked the season’s conclusion, James shared, “Me and the crew are heading off on sunny holidays. Different climates.” When he asked a crew member about their holiday plans and heard “Portugal,” James smiled and said, “Yorkshire for me. But we will be back here with more top chefs, other brilliant guests, and more delicious recipes later on in the year.”

Signing off, he wished all viewers a joyful summer: “Until then, thanks for watching. Have a wonderful, fantastic summer. I’ll see you out there wherever you are.” He finished with a heartfelt goodbye: “Thanks for watching, see you again soon, goodbye for now.”
James also explained that today’s episode was shorter than usual due to the Derby on ITV1, but reassured fans there was still time for one last dish before the break.
During a recent segment filmed in Italy, James hinted at the possibility of retirement, playfully expressing a desire to settle down there after tasting a traditional fish dish. “Can I just say, if your two sons don’t want to do this, you call me,” he joked. “I might retire here. I could be over there, I could be doing this, it is fantastic.”
