On the latest episode of James Martin’s Saturday Morning, the celebrity chef shared exciting news about one of his co-stars returning to the restaurant world.
During his show’s January 31st broadcast, James Martin was joined by Status Quo’s Francis Rossi, alongside fellow cooks Romy Gill and Corrin Harrison, who showcased their culinary talents. Romy prepared her signature Haryali Murg, a vibrant chicken dish with fenugreek leaves, accompanied by chapatis, while mixologist Merlin Griffiths demonstrated creative drink recipes.
Amid her cooking demonstration, James highlighted an important update about Romy’s career. After stepping away from the restaurant scene to devote time to her children, Romy confirmed she is making a major return to commercial kitchens.

“Can we mention the big news for you? Because you’re venturing back into the commercial kitchen,” James announced.
Romy responded, “I am.” She explained, “I just wanted to take a break because when I had the restaurant, I was never there for my children. Now that my daughters are at university, I feel ready to get back into the business. The credibility that comes with running a restaurant is immense, and I’ve truly missed it.”
James added with a smile, “I knew you’d miss it,” confirming that this decision was eagerly anticipated.
This announcement comes not long after James Martin revealed a kitchen upgrade inspired by his partner Kim Johnson’s newfound passion for bread making. Following a workshop with Breton baker Richard Bertinet, Kim encouraged James to invest in a new electric mixer, enhancing their home culinary space featured regularly on the show.
James Martin’s Saturday Morning continues to air Saturdays at 9:30 AM on ITV1 and ITVX, bringing viewers a blend of delicious recipes and engaging conversations.
