Seam bowler James Hayes has completed a permanent transfer to Gloucestershire, concluding his five-year association with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
At 25 years old, Hayes initially joined Nottinghamshire midway through the 2021 season on an 18-month deal following a successful trial. He made his first-team debut in August 2022.
Hayes will now be based at the Seat Unique Stadium, signing a two-year contract after previously spending two loan periods with Gloucestershire during the current season.

His first loan spell began in July, when he made his senior T20 debut, impressively taking six wickets across four Vitality Blast matches. Hayes played a key role in helping Gloucestershire reach the quarter-finals, contributing to notable victories against Worcestershire away and Surrey at home.
Earlier in the season, in May, Hayes made his first-class debut for Nottinghamshire during a Rothesay County Championship match at Leicestershire, stepping in as an injury substitute for Brett Hutton.
Reflecting on his career move, Hayes expressed his gratitude towards Nottinghamshire: “I’m so grateful to Nottinghamshire for giving me my opportunity by signing me as a 19-year-old. I’ve loved my time here and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
“Leaving Trent Bridge was a really tough decision to make but I am excited for the next chapter of my career with Gloucestershire.”
