Gloucestershire overcame a difficult start to claim a resounding 213-run victory against Derbyshire in the Rothesay County Championship Division Two match at the Seat Unique Stadium, Bristol.
The defining moment came in the final session when Gloucestershire’s overseas spinner, Sai Kishore, produced a remarkable bowling display, taking 5 wickets for just 20 runs from 18 overs. His patient and penetrating spin bowling dismantled Derbyshire’s batting line-up as they were bowled out for 105 inside 39 overs, chasing a target of 319.
Spin dominated the innings with Ed Middleton and Ollie Price contributing significantly by taking two and three wickets respectively, meaning all ten Derbyshire wickets fell to spinners. This outcome marked a dramatic turnaround for Gloucestershire, who were struggling early in the match at 37 for 5 on the first day.

The hosts had earlier set a commanding total with a second-innings score of 359 for 5 declared, thanks largely to a monumental fourth-wicket partnership of 165 runs between Miles Hammond and James Bracey. Hammond scored 118, while Bracey remained unbeaten on 104.
Bracey’s achievement was historic, becoming the first Gloucestershire player since Alex Gidman in 2007 to score twin centuries in a first-class match. Additionally, Bracey was the first Gloucestershire wicketkeeper since Harry Smith in 1919 to record two hundreds in the same game.
This victory ended Gloucestershire’s poor run in the championship, giving them 19 valuable points and halting a streak of six consecutive defeats. Both of Gloucestershire’s wins this season have come against Derbyshire, who left Bristol with only four points.
Derbyshire’s fielding let them down at crucial moments; Shoaib Bashir dropped Bracey early on, while Matt Montgomery allowed Hammond a reprieve at 77. The fourth-wicket partnership between Hammond and Bracey capitalised on these chances, asserting dominance over the Derbyshire attack.
After lunch, debutant Miles Hammond was dismissed at midwicket, but Bracey continued to build the innings, reaching his fifth century of the season before Gloucestershire declared, confident in their commanding lead.
