Cheltenham Town have secured the season-long loan signing of winger Jake Evans from Premier League club Leicester City.
The 17-year-old, who will celebrate his 18th birthday on 21 August, completed a medical on Monday morning and joins fellow Leicester player Kirsten Otchere at Whaddon Road. Evans becomes the Robins’ ninth new signing of the summer and their second on loan, with Otchere having made his debut as a substitute in Saturday’s Carabao Cup first round match against Charlton Athletic.
Evans is set to be available for Cheltenham’s opening League Two fixture of the 2026/27 season, hosting Rotherham United this Saturday with a 3pm kick-off.

A former England Under-17 international, Evans gained valuable senior experience last season on loan at Northampton Town. He scored twice in seven League One starts and made nine substitute appearances in the latter half of the campaign.
The Leicester academy graduate, who joined the club as an Under-nine, signed his first professional contract in October 2025. He was also named on the bench for Leicester’s FA Cup third round tie at Whaddon Road in January, when the Foxes secured a 2-0 victory.
During the 2024/25 Premier League season, Evans made four substitute appearances for Leicester in matches against Brighton, Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Bournemouth. Recently, he committed his future to the club by signing a new three-year contract.
Robins manager Steve Cotterill commented on the signing: “Jake has been one of my targets throughout the summer. He is an exciting player, and there was considerable interest in him from clubs in League Two and higher divisions. I’m delighted to welcome him to the football club.

Evans expressed his enthusiasm for the move, saying: “I’m over the moon to be here. I have spoken to the gaffer a few times and can’t help but feel excited and ready to go.
“I have tasted senior football and now want more. I can’t wait to play for the gaffer and the Robins fans, and I will give my all for this football club.”
