J D Vance to Spend Summer Holiday in the Cotswolds with Family

US Vice President J D Vance, along with his wife Usha and their three young children, is set to enjoy a family holiday in the idyllic Cotswolds this August. Known for its charming villages and scenic beauty, the Cotswolds has become a favored destination for many high-profile personalities, including Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Simon Cowell, David Beckham, and Jeremy Clarkson.

Nicholas Rudge, Sales Director at Savills Estate Agents in Banbury, highlighted the region’s rising popularity: “The Cotswolds has become hugely fashionable because money has poured out of London. The region is safe, civilised, and protected; it can’t be overdeveloped, as it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

This visit follows a recent controversy where Vance appeared to make dismissive remarks about the UK and France, which he later denied. Despite backlash and criticism, including from Shadow Defence Secretary James Cartlidge, Vance clarified that he never specifically referred to either country and acknowledged their longstanding military contributions alongside the US.

J D Vance first came into the public eye through his memoir Hillbilly Elegy, which chronicles his journey from a challenging upbringing to graduating from Yale University. The book has sold over 1.6 million copies and was adapted into a film starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams in 2020. However, the film underperformed critically and commercially, receiving several Golden Raspberry nominations.

Vance’s political profile rose sharply when he was selected as Donald Trump’s running mate for the 2024 presidential election. His tenure has been marked by several contentious moments, including his sharp remarks toward Ukrainian President Zelensky and Trump’s ongoing legal battle with Rupert Murdoch over personal allegations.
