I’ve visited Jeremy Clarkson’s pub many times – one word sums it up

Nestled just outside Burford in the picturesque Cotswolds, The Farmer’s Dog is Jeremy Clarkson’s renowned pub, celebrated for its dedication to British-sourced ingredients. Every item on the menu is sourced from UK farms and local suppliers, underscoring a commitment to quality and authenticity.

Since opening its doors, the pub has drawn guests nationwide—not only because of Clarkson’s celebrity status but also due to its prominent feature on the popular show Clarkson’s Farm. Having visited The Farmer’s Dog and its sister venue, The Farmer’s Puppy, multiple times, I can confidently say that the experience consistently impresses. From the attentive service to the expertly prepared dishes, excellence is a given.

Around Christmas, the pub buzzes with a warm and inviting atmosphere, vibrant and festive yet comfortably familiar. Come spring, the setting remains welcoming and relaxed, even without the seasonal decorations.

While the menu leans toward the premium end, the prices are well justified by the quality. For example, the Christmas turkey dinner, priced at £26, came accompanied by roast potatoes, a pig in a blanket, and seasonal greens. The turkey itself was succulent and tender, practically melting in the mouth.

To finish, I indulged in an apple and oat crumble cake for £12. Light and comforting, it tasted like a perfect homemade treat that lingers in the memory.

Beyond the main pub, I’ve frequented The Farmer’s Puppy for a bacon roll made with evidently superior meat and The Farmer’s Dough, where British ingredients combine to create delicious pizzas.

Moreover, the garden offers stunning views—a lovely spot to enjoy your meal or a drink. The site also features an on-site butcher and shop stocked with local produce and merchandise.

If I had to sum up my experiences in one word, it would be “outstanding.” From the cuisine to the service, every aspect is top-tier.

If you get the chance, I highly recommend visiting The Farmer’s Dog or The Farmer’s Puppy—you’ll understand why the waiting list is so long.
