Nestled just outside Burford in the picturesque Cotswolds, The Farmer’s Dog is Jeremy Clarkson’s pub that champions British produce with every dish. Sourcing ingredients exclusively from UK farms and local suppliers, this establishment offers a genuine taste of Britain.
Since opening, The Farmer’s Dog has become a popular destination for visitors nationwide—not just because of Clarkson’s fame—but also due to its feature in his television series, Clarkson’s Farm. I’ve visited both The Farmer’s Dog and its sister pub, The Farmer’s Puppy, on numerous occasions and each experience has consistently impressed me with exceptional service and high-quality cuisine.
At Christmas, the pub exudes a warm and festive atmosphere, buzzing with energy and charm that leaves a lasting impression. Even in spring, without seasonal decorations, the ambiance remains welcoming and relaxed.

While the menu leans towards the premium side in pricing, every pound spent reflects the superior quality and local authenticity. The pub proudly displays a wall register highlighting the farmers who supply the meat, reinforcing its commitment to transparency and British sourcing.
Although Coca-Cola is not available, the beverage selection includes a wide range of soft drinks and Hawkstone ales, catering to varied tastes.
At Christmas, the £26 turkey dinner was exemplary—served with roast potatoes, a pig in a blanket, and seasonal greens. The turkey was perfectly tender and juicy, literally melting in the mouth. For dessert, the £12 apple and oat crumble cake was a delightful finish: light, comforting, and authentically homemade.
My visits to The Farmer’s Puppy included sampling a bacon roll made from premium-quality meat, while The Farmer’s Dough provided mouth-watering pizzas crafted entirely from British ingredients. The garden offers stunning views where you can unwind and enjoy your meal and drinks in a beautiful setting.
On-site facilities also include a butcher and a shop selling branded merchandise, enhancing the overall experience.
If I had to sum up my visits to these pubs in one word, it would be “outstanding.” From the food to the service and atmosphere, everything is first-class. Whether you choose The Farmer’s Dog or The Farmer’s Puppy, a visit is highly recommended—even if you must wait for a table.
