Tuffley Rovers suffered a 3-0 defeat to Hallen in the Hellenic Premier Division under challenging weather conditions. Despite the wind and rain, manager Neil Mustoe insists that the weather was not the decisive factor in the loss.
“It’s the third time this year we’ve dropped points in these conditions,” Mustoe remarked. “Against Saracens, we conceded three goals; versus Cribbs, four; and tonight, three. We just haven’t managed to handle these situations. It boils down to our mentality going into these games. All three matches were winnable, yet we lost them.”
Mustoe expressed deep disappointment, especially as Tuffley Rovers had been on a promising run beforehand. The first goal came in the 38th minute when Jack Busby capitalised on a rebound after goalkeeper Anton Robinson failed to secure an initial save. Shortly before halftime, Louis Holden extended Hallen’s lead, expertly finishing after a precise pass into space. Dylan Tate sealed the victory by scoring from just inside Tuffley’s half, catching Robinson off his line with an impressive strike.

Although the scoreline was one-sided, Tuffley still created offensive opportunities during good spells of possession. Karnell Chambers notably missed a prime chance with a free header, following a quality cross from Harley Mustoe. However, Neil Mustoe emphasized that these chances came too infrequently.
“We gave the ball away cheaply leading to both first-half goals,” Mustoe noted. “We didn’t do enough once we had possession to create real opportunities. Composure was lacking; playing long balls into the wind simply doesn’t work. The ball always bounces away.”
Mustoe also highlighted brief moments in the second half when Hallen appeared frustrated, mentioning that Tuffley had three free headers in the box during that period. “But pressure can’t just happen during short spells; it needs to be consistent to change the game.”
Following this defeat, Tuffley Rovers remain ninth in the Hellenic Premier Division standings. The team has nearly two weeks to regroup before their next challenge—a trip to Cribbs—followed by a home match against league leaders Slimbridge on Monday, April 6.
