“It’s Been a Privilege” - Liam Kinsella Bids Farewell to Cheltenham Town

Liam Kinsella has officially departed Cheltenham Town, concluding a memorable two-year spell with the club. The 29-year-old midfielder’s exit was confirmed on Thursday afternoon as he and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract to pursue new opportunities.

Kinsella arrived at Whaddon Road from Swindon Town and quickly became a fan favorite, making 89 appearances across all competitions. Known for his passionate commitment and fierce challenges in midfield, the former Walsall player earned respect both on and off the pitch.

Reflecting on his time at Cheltenham, Kinsella expressed gratitude to the supporters, staff, and teammates who made his tenure special. “It’s been a privilege to represent this football club through all the highs and lows over the past two years. We have stuck together and are moving in the right direction,” he said.

Highlighting his belief in the club’s future, Kinsella praised the leadership of manager Steve Cotterill, calling him a “born winner” who will guide Cheltenham Town back to where they belong.

One of the midfielder’s standout moments came when he captained the team against Carlisle, walking out alongside his son — a dream realized that will remain close to his heart.

“I want to thank the fans for their incredible support from day one and wish everyone at Cheltenham all the success moving forward,” Kinsella added.

Cheltenham Town will next host Grimsby Town in their upcoming League Two fixture on Saturday at 3pm.
