Ipswich Town Recall Defender Jacob Mazionis from Cheltenham Loan

Ipswich Town defender Jacob Mazionis has returned to his parent club following a loan spell at Cheltenham Town, where he made nine appearances this season. The 19-year-old Lithuania Under-21 international has been sidelined since September 20 due to a foot injury.

Mazionis made his English Football League debut on the season’s opening day, coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute during Cheltenham’s 1-0 defeat to Cambridge United. He earned his first start the following week in a home loss against Chesterfield. Prior to this season, Mazionis impressed during a loan stint at National League side Woking.

Meanwhile, midfielder Taine Anderson’s half-season loan has also ended as he continues rehabilitation from a long-term hamstring injury at Bristol City. Cheltenham manager Steve Cotterill has expressed interest in retaining Wrexham forward Jake Bickerstaff, but winger Tommy Taylor is expected to return to Ipswich due to limited first-team opportunities.

Defender Sam Sherring remains in recovery from a hamstring tendon injury, but Cotterill hopes to keep him if he regains full fitness and can contribute in the second half of the campaign. Winger Ethon Archer has played his final game for Cheltenham before joining Luton Town officially, having transferred in the summer with a loan back until January.

The future of Cheltenham’s top scorer, Isaac Hutchinson, remains uncertain amid reported interest from Bristol Rovers, who are keen to recall him from his season-long loan.

Cheltenham Town will face Crawley Town at home on Sunday, with kickoff scheduled for noon.
