An official investigation is currently underway after allegations surfaced that a teacher assaulted a child at a Gloucestershire school earlier this year. The matter came to light through a referral from the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), prompting police involvement.
A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police confirmed that the assault report relates to an incident believed to have occurred in January. The investigation remains active, and no arrests have been made at this stage.
“Police are investigating an allegation of assault by an adult on a child at a school in Gloucestershire,” the spokesperson stated. “We are working closely with the Local Authority Designated Officer and the school’s safeguarding teams to ensure the safety and well-being of all pupils and staff as enquiries continue.”

Gloucestershire County Council is monitoring the investigation closely but has refrained from providing further details while the case is ongoing. Councillor Linda Cohen, Cabinet member for Education and Skills, emphasized the council’s commitment to transparency and safeguarding, stating, “Our Local Authority Designated Officer is fully engaged with this investigation and receives regular updates. We are unable to comment further at this time due to the ongoing nature of the inquiry.”
