Police continue to investigate the death of Neil Priday, a 55-year-old man from Welland, near Malvern in Worcestershire, who tragically lost his life in a tractor accident near Tewkesbury in August 2025. Mr Priday died at the scene in Fiddington following the incident.
A man in his twenties, believed to have been driving the tractor at the time, was previously arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol. He was subsequently released under investigation. On the first anniversary of Mr Priday’s death, a spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary confirmed that a man remains under investigation in relation to the case, though no further details have been disclosed.
To date, no date has been set for a full inquest into Mr Priday’s death. At the opening of the inquest last year, it was revealed that police had received reports late on the evening of 9 August about some intoxicated males driving a tractor. Around 11:15 pm, the tractor was reported to have left a public road, colliding with hedges and fences. It was during this incident that Mr Priday, a passenger on the vehicle, was ejected.

Emergency services responded promptly, and paramedics attempted to save Mr Priday at the scene near Monks Lane. Sadly, he was declared deceased at 12:10 am on 10 August due to a head injury sustained from the collision.
The incident occurred on a country lane in the parish of Ashchurch, close to where the Severn Vale Vintage Club had hosted its annual show earlier that day. The event, which featured vintage vehicles including tractors, was halted from continuing into a second day as a result of the tragedy.
In the days following the accident, organisers expressed their condolences and gratitude for public support, saying on social media: “Thank you for all of the kind messages that we have received. The support from exhibitors, stall holders and members of the public has been unprecedented. The Severn Vale Vintage Club would like to offer our sincere condolences to all involved and our thoughts are with the family and friends of all those affected during this difficult time.” The event successfully resumed for its 2026 edition over the recent weekend.
An early police appeal following the incident detailed that the tractor collided with hedges and stationary vehicles around 11:25 pm. Members of the public provided first aid to Mr Priday before emergency services arrived. Authorities continue to encourage anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken with police to come forward by submitting information online, referencing incident 591 of 9 August.
