The investigation into the death of Neil Priday, who tragically died after being run over by a tractor near Tewkesbury, remains ongoing, Gloucestershire Constabulary has confirmed.
Mr Priday, 55, from Welland near Malvern in Worcestershire, died at the scene in Fiddington in August 2025. A man in his 20s, believed to have been driving the tractor at the time, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through alcohol. He was subsequently released under investigation.
On the first anniversary of Mr Priday’s death, a spokesperson from the police confirmed that a man is still under investigation in connection with the case. No further details have been disclosed, and a date for a full inquest into Mr Priday’s death has not yet been set.

At the opening of the inquest last year, it was revealed that police were called late on the evening of 9 August to reports of intoxicated males driving a tractor. Around 11.15pm, the tractor was said to have come onto a public road, where it collided with hedges and fences. During the incident, Mr Priday, who was a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle.
Paramedics responded promptly and attempted to save Mr Priday at the scene near Monks Lane but he was declared dead at 12.10am on 10 August. The cause of death was recorded as a head injury sustained in the collision with the tractor.
The incident occurred close to the location where the Severn Vale Vintage Club had held its annual show featuring vintage vehicles and tractors earlier that day. Due to the circumstances, the organisers decided not to continue the event into a second day.
In a statement issued days after the tragedy, the organisers expressed their sorrow and gratitude for the support they received. They extended their sincere condolences to all those affected, including Mr Priday’s family and friends. The event resumed with its 2026 show over the past weekend.
Following the incident, the police appealed for witnesses, stating that the driver was believed to have collided with hedges and stationary vehicles around 11.25pm on 9 August. A man in his 20s was arrested but later released under investigation. The police have asked anyone who witnessed the event and has not yet spoken to them to come forward by completing an online form, quoting incident 591 of 9 August.
