Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped out for a relaxed lunch at a traditional Cotswolds village pub, marking their first public appearance together since returning to the UK. The couple were seen enjoying classic British pub fare at The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, a picturesque 16th-century inn near Chipping Norton. Arriving hand in hand on Thursday, October 1, they were dressed casually-Meghan wore an all-black outfit with white trainers and sunglasses, while Harry opted for jeans and a baseball cap. Those at the pub noted the couple blended in seamlessly, behaving as locals and keeping a low profile during their visit.
The Falkland Arms is celebrated for its historic charm, featuring flagstone floors, low oak-beamed ceilings, inglenook fireplaces, and a collection of antique snuff boxes and copper tankards displayed overhead. The pub serves traditional British comfort dishes alongside local cask ales, fine wines, and a wide selection of whiskies. Nestled in one of the Cotswolds' most scenic thatched-cottage villages, it offers cosy accommodation and an outdoor dining area.
Describing itself on Instagram as a “traditional English pub,” The Falkland Arms has a modest following and promotes weekly specials, including its popular Thursday Pie & Pint Night priced at £18.95. Guests who stay overnight can expect rooms decorated with countryside charm, including traditional oak beams, low doorways, and creaky wooden floors. While the building retains its centuries-old character, modern en-suite bathrooms complement the accommodation, and a full breakfast is served each morning in the dining room.

This outing follows Meghan Markle’s earlier visit to another Cotswolds venue, The Three Horseshoes in Asthall near Burford, Oxfordshire. There, she was spotted with friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi for a casual lunch. Unlike The Falkland Arms, The Three Horseshoes is situated within the tranquil surroundings of Windrush Valley and is known as a peaceful village retreat. Ellen and Portia relocated to the Cotswolds in November 2024, citing concerns around Donald Trump’s return to office as a primary reason for their move from California. The couple arrived in England on the day before Election Day and chose to remain in Britain following the election results.
