Inside Father Brown Season 13 Episode 5: Guest Stars Including Emmerdale Star

Father Brown season 13 is back, and episode 5 promises an exciting blend of familiar faces and compelling drama. The series continues to showcase the talents of lead actors Mark Williams, Nancy Carroll, and Tom Chambers, while introducing notable guest stars from popular British television and film.

In “The Shadow of Lazarus,” Father Brown (Mark Williams) is drawn into a tense “deadly game of cat and mouse,” as his long-standing adversary, Vincent Lazarus (Lex Shrapnel), resurfaces with sinister intent. This marks a pivotal moment in the series, highlighting the return of Lazarus after his earlier attempt on Father Brown’s life.

Joining the episode is the enigmatic criminal mastermind Hercule Flambeau, who appears to warn Father Brown about Lazarus’s renewed threats. Played by John Light—known for roles in Holby City, Inspector Lewis, and Showtrial—Hercule’s character brings a layer of intrigue and depth to the unfolding mystery.

Tony Gardner appears as Monsignor Russo, Father Brown’s superior, adding gravitas to the investigation of the sacred Madonna of Sorrow statue—a priceless artifact Lazarus is desperate to locate. Gardner’s career spans popular shows like My Parents Are Aliens, Last Tango in Halifax, and Fresh Meat.

Fans of Emmerdale will be excited to see Aaron Anthony, who played Ellis Chapman in the soap, guest star as Francis, a prison officer overseeing Lazarus’s incarceration. His role promises to add a compelling dimension to the storyline set inside the prison walls.

Sophia Myles, known for roles in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Moonlight, and Sky’s A Discovery of Witches, joins as Lady Veronica Shepherd. Her character holds a mysterious connection to Hercule Flambeau’s past, promising intriguing revelations.

Rounding out the guest cast is Madison Clare as Mary Jackson, whom Father Brown meets at Lady Veronica’s charitable event. Clare’s previous appearances include roles in Holby City and Grantchester.

Father Brown season 13 airs Fridays at 2pm on BBC One and is available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
