Two international schools in the South West, Cleve House and Wotton House International Schools, have received exceptional feedback from the Independent Schools Inspectorate for their progressive and individualized approaches to education.
Cleve House International School, based in Knowle, Bristol, and its partner institution, Wotton House International School in Gloucester, have garnered praise after being recently inspected. The schools have been commended for their innovative methods.
Cleve House International School is the first establishment in Bristol to introduce aspects of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme for students aged 11 to 16, offering an alternative to traditional GCSEs. The IB is renowned as a global “gold standard” and emphasizes a streamlined exam approach at age 16, focusing on five core subjects.

The school was lauded for its ability to foster confident, resilient pupils with a positive attitude towards learning in a joyful, empathetic, and opportunistic environment. The report also highlighted the school’s nurturing atmosphere and its success in enabling pupils, including those with additional needs, to make rapid progress.
Similarly, Wotton House International School was praised for its highly personalized learning model and its creative approach to curriculum design, which considers and supports the needs, interests, and preferences of all pupils. With the approval to extend its age range, the school will soon be launching a sixth form in the upcoming academic year.
