Increased Police Patrols as Multiple Neighbors Report Cannabis Smell

Complaints of the pervasive smell of cannabis in a Gloucestershire village have prompted increased police patrols. The odor is reported to be emanating from multiple households near a specific street, causing significant distress to local residents.

On April 28, Gloucestershire police received reports of multiple households in the vicinity of Foxes Close, Bussage, engaging in the smoking of cannabis. The issue has been identified as an ongoing concern, leading to the escalation of police presence in the area.

An announcement on the Your Community Alerts Gloucestershire website outlined the situation, appealing to the public to provide any relevant information. Additionally, the Neighbourhood Policing Team encourages community members to come forward with any details that might aid in addressing the matter.

The community alert from Gloucestershire reads, “We are aware of incidents of antisocial behavior in your area, predominantly related to the smoking of illegal substances (cannabis/weed).”

In response to these reports, law enforcement will be conducting extra patrols in the affected area and soliciting cooperation from the public to assist in addressing the behavior. The local Neighbourhood Support Team at Stroud Police Station will also be briefed on the ongoing issue.

Residents with information pertinent to the investigation are urged to utilize online forms, call 101, contact Crimestoppers, or email local PCSO Amelia Loveridge at [email protected]. The announcement also recommends informing the local parish council, which will then relay the information to the relevant authorities.

In the event of witnessing further episodes of antisocial behavior, residents are advised to report such incidents promptly and use emergency services when necessary. However, the notice specifies that crime reports should not be submitted through Your Neighbourhood Alerts.

As the situation continues to be monitored, the increased police presence aims to alleviate the impact of the ongoing issue on the affected community.
