‘I’m a big fan’ - Gloucester Rugby confirm new deal for towering forward

Gloucester Rugby has secured the services of promising lock Danny Eite with a new contract, signaling their belief in his bright future at the club. The 22-year-old, standing at an imposing 6ft 6in, has steadily progressed through the ranks since joining the Gloucester Rugby Academy while studying at Hartpury College.

Born in Birmingham and raised partly in Qatar, Eite developed his passion for rugby through sevens before advancing his skills further at Hartpury. During his time there, he competed at both ACE and BUCS levels and also earned international experience representing England’s U18 and U20 teams.

Eite made his senior debut for Gloucester in a Premiership Cup match against Exeter Chiefs in 2023 and has since made 17 appearances for the Cherry and Whites. Head coach George Skivington expressed high praise for him, saying, “I’m a really big fan of Danny. Despite limited game time due to injuries and strong competition in the second row, he has all the qualities to succeed and is a very coachable and hardworking player. We’re thrilled to have him committed to Kingsholm."

Reflecting on his new deal, Eite said, “Re-signing with Gloucester was an easy choice. I’m satisfied with my progress but eager to secure a regular spot in the matchday 23. Learning alongside an experienced second row like George is invaluable, and I’m determined to keep developing here.”

This new contract reaffirms Gloucester Rugby’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and highlights Eite’s growing importance within the squad as they look ahead to future success.
