‘Idyllic’ Caravan Parks Including Gloucestershire Site Named UK’s Best

A family-run caravan park chain with a resort in Gloucestershire has been recognised as the UK’s best provider following an extensive consumer survey by Which?.

Hoburne, which operates seven locations including Hoburne Cotswold and Hoburne Cotswold Reach near South Cerney, topped the list. The company also has parks across the South West, including in Devon, Somerset, and Dorset.

The Cotswolds site enjoys a picturesque lakeside setting and offers a wide range of amenities such as adventure golf, arcades, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, soft play areas, an adventure playground, sauna and steam rooms, a shop, restaurant, bar, and fitness facilities.

In the September/October edition of its magazine, Which? highlighted the brand’s commitment to creating “peaceful, crowd-free parks designed to be ‘enjoyed not endured’.” They noted Hoburne’s locations span diverse settings, from a clifftop in Dorset to a woodland retreat in the New Forest.

Feedback from guests was positive. One visitor said: “The park was clean, quiet, and very well maintained, which made for a perfectly relaxing break.” The survey also praised the dining experience, mentioning restaurants such as the lantern-lit Pier House with its sea-view terrace that serves local, seasonal produce like Brixham trout.

Activities at each park are tailored to the surroundings, including guided bat walks and instructor-led kayaking at the Cotswolds site’s wetlands. Which? described these retreats as “a cut above and in idyllic settings.”

Jim Forward, Hoburne’s chief executive, expressed his delight: “Of all the awards we could have won, this is probably as good as it gets. Which? is one of the most trusted brands there is, and this recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our wonderful teams committed to providing quality, family time for our guests and owners.”

The parks received an overall customer satisfaction score of 81 per cent.

Jim also highlighted the praise for their restaurants, which are open to the local community as well as residents. “I want to thank everyone who shared their views with Which? and assure that we will continue striving to improve even further. We are proud to be named the best in the business and fully intend to retain that title,” he added.
