Gloucester City manager Daf Williams has emphasized the importance of Wednesday night’s trip to Gosport Borough, describing it as a pivotal moment in the season as the Tigers seek to reverse their recent poor away performances.
With a game in hand, a win would see Gloucester City leapfrog Poole Town into second place. However, Williams recognizes the challenge that lies ahead.
“It’s a big one because they’re a strong side sitting fifth in the table with an impressive home record,” Williams noted. “Our priority is the result, but if we maintain high performance levels, we stand a great chance of coming away with points.”

This fixture marks Gloucester’s second match in just four days during a demanding stretch where they play three games within seven days. Williams welcomes the challenge and is confident in his squad’s resilience.
“My players are accustomed to busy periods during the season. This is the first time we’ve had three away matches in a week, which adds to the difficulty, but these are the tough tests that define a season. I welcome the challenge,” he said. “When adversity arises, I roll up my sleeves and approach it head-on, and I believe the players share that mindset.”
Adding a boost to the squad, skipper Keiran Thomas returned to action on Saturday at Sholing. Williams highlighted the significance of having their leader back on the pitch.
“Even when he wasn’t playing, his presence in the dressing room was invaluable. But having him actively involved makes a huge difference. He’ll relish being back, and his influence both on and off the field is vital. We’re thrilled to have him back,” said Williams.
Recent weeks have also seen three new signings integrate into the squad, and Williams is pleased with their quick adaptation.
“Morgan Lewis has been fantastic—he brings valuable experience and quality down the left flank. Jamal Mohamed, arriving on loan from West Brom, is clearly a talented player who strengthens our defense. Rylie Siddall is still settling in, having only had one training session with us so far, but he looks promising and should make more of an impact soon,” Williams explained.
“For Mohamed and Siddall, this is their first loan experience. It’s an important stage for them and a positive arrangement for both the players and the club. We’re optimistic it will benefit everyone involved.”
