Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, has rapidly become one of the UK’s most talked-about destinations, thanks largely to the popularity of the hit show Clarkson’s Farm. Curious to experience the buzz firsthand, I decided to visit and see what all the fuss was about. Unfortunately, while the pub has plenty of charm, there were three key aspects that left me feeling disappointed.
First, the atmosphere didn’t quite match the down-to-earth vibe I expected. Despite the rustic setting, the pub felt somewhat commercialized, lacking the relaxed and welcoming energy portrayed on TV. It seemed more like a tourist hotspot than a true countryside retreat.
Second, the menu, which should celebrate farm-fresh, local produce, was surprisingly uninspired. While dishes boasted ingredients from Clarkson’s farm, the flavors lacked punch, and some items felt rushed or overly processed for a venue known for authentic rural fare.

Lastly, the service was inconsistent. On a busy weekend, staff appeared overwhelmed, causing delays and a sense of disorganization. Given the pub’s success, better coordination would enhance visitors’ experiences significantly.
Overall, The Farmer’s Dog is worth a visit for fans of Clarkson and countryside pubs alike, but it didn’t entirely live up to the high expectations set by the show. With some tweaks to atmosphere, food, and service, it has the potential to become truly exceptional.
