I Tried Waitrose’s Sell-Out Blonde Chocolate Croissant Easter Egg — Here’s What to Expect

With Easter just around the corner and spring in full swing, novelty chocolate treats are once again stealing the spotlight. Among them, Waitrose’s No. 1 The Blonde Almond Croissant Egg has captured the hearts of shoppers – and mine too.

As soon as I unwrapped this hefty 275g Easter egg, its rich almond-scented aroma signaled something special. Crafted from luxuriously creamy blonde chocolate, this unique creation is an indulgent combination of thick blonde chocolate, crunchy chopped almonds, almond paste, and feuilletine wafer. The croissant-shaped design sets it apart from typical Easter eggs, adding a playful twist to the seasonal classic.

Breaking into the egg was no easy feat thanks to its substantial 1cm-thick hollow shell, but the reward was well worth the effort. The delicious flavors instantly reminded me of the nostalgic Caramac bar but with an elegant nuttiness and layered textures from the crunchy wafer and roasted almonds.

Easter Egg Product Developer Sarah Breadmore emphasizes that the 2026 range elevates seasonal treats by blending popular food trends with creative flair, crafting indulgences that truly make you go “wow.”
