I Tried Waitrose’s Sell-Out Blonde Chocolate Croissant Easter Egg — Here’s What to Expect

As Easter approaches and springtime vibes fill the air, chocolate lovers eagerly seek out the season’s most exciting sweet offerings. Among the tempting choices this year, Waitrose has captured attention with its standout creation: the No.1 Blonde Almond Croissant Egg.

From the moment I unwrapped this indulgent treat, I was struck by its impressive size and the irresistible aroma of almond-infused blonde chocolate. This isn’t your typical Easter egg. The thick, hollow egg is crafted from luxuriously smooth blonde chocolate and studded with crunchy roasted almonds, silky almond paste, and crisp feuilletine wafer.

Biting into it, I immediately recalled the nostalgic taste of a Caramac bar — but with a richer, sophisticated edge unique to this croissant-inspired creation. The egg’s design cleverly mimics the flaky layers of a croissant, marrying familiar flavours with a fresh concept.

Weighing in at a generous 275g and retailing at £15 (currently available for £12), this premium chocolate treat delivers both visual appeal and remarkable taste. Its creamy texture contrasts beautifully with the crisp wafers and crunchy nuts, giving a satisfying complexity in every bite.

Waitrose describes it as a “grown-up Easter treat,” made with Fairtrade cocoa and hand-decorated with milk chocolate and roasted almonds. The brand clearly tapped into growing consumer demand early this year, noting a significant spike in online searches for Easter eggs — up 68% in February 2026 compared to the previous year.

Building on last year’s viral croissant egg, Waitrose continues to innovate with its almond flavour, also offering a mini version containing six bite-sized blonde chocolate croissants filled with smooth ganache. These miniatures add a delicate “ooh la la” to any Easter celebration.

According to Sarah Breadmore, Easter Egg Product Developer at Waitrose: “We really wanted to offer our customers those egg-stra options that make you go ‘wow’. Our new Blonde Chocolate Almond Croissant takes our viral egg to a whole new level. Made with creamy blonde chocolate and crunchy almond pieces, it’s so good you’re not going to want to share.”

If you’re after a luxurious, flavourful Easter egg that stands apart from the traditional, Waitrose’s Blonde Almond Croissant egg is a must-try this spring.
