Danny Malin, well-known food critic and YouTube personality, recently paid a visit to Jeremy Clarkson’s celebrated Cotswolds estate, The Farmer’s Dog in Asthall, Oxfordshire. Keen to experience the buzz for himself, Danny arrived equipped with his portable dining setup to sample the offerings from the on-site food vans named The Farmer’s Dough and The Farmer’s Puppy.
After queuing amid eager diners, Danny selected a Big View Burger, loaded fries, farmhouse pizza, and wild garlic bread. Documenting his experience for his Danny vs Food channel, he found a sunny spot outside under a pergola-like structure to enjoy the meal.
His first impression was of the wild garlic bread, which he praised for its “absolutely gorgeous” cheese and a crust that was soft and doughy – simply “delicious.” Moving on to the farmhouse pizza, topped with ham and mushrooms, Danny highlighted the “fantastic” sauce with a perfect balance of sweetness and tang, as well as the generous portions of toppings. He called it “great” and couldn’t find fault with the flavour profile.

The loaded fries, adorned with garlic mayo and cheese, impressed Danny with a rich, creamy mayo and a hearty helping of cheese, though he noted the £9.50 price tag was on the high side, he still felt it was justified considering the quality.
Finally, Danny tackled the £14 Big View Burger, which came with baconnaise, lettuce, pickles, beer-soaked onions, and cheddar on a wonderfully soft bun. The juicy beef patty and sharp onions delivered a perfect flavor combination, rounded out by the fresh, earthy taste of lettuce and pickles.
Overall, Danny spent £48.50 but found the experience worthwhile. He complimented the setting as an ideal family day out, recognizing the value in both food quality and atmosphere. He noted the possibility of spotting Jeremy Clarkson himself wandering around, adding to the unique charm.
In closing, Danny gave the meal a resounding endorsement: “It’s nothing less than a solid 10 because I’ve really enjoyed it.”
