Huge Boost for Gloucester Quays

Gloucester Quays experienced an outstanding Christmas season in 2025, marked by increased festive footfall and soaring sales as the popular Christmas markets returned for their 13th consecutive year.

Following a remarkable Black Friday on payday in November 2025, the retail centre saw a 6.5% year-on-year (YOY) increase in sales. This momentum continued into December, with footfall rising 5.5% YOY. The Christmas markets, featuring 100 stalls and a bustling ice rink, attracted significant crowds, culminating in the busiest year ever for these festive attractions.

Weekend visits surged by 15% YOY during the seven weeks leading up to Christmas, contributing to a 1.1% increase in retail sales for the month. Homeware and gifting categories experienced the most impressive gains, soaring by 66.3%, followed by menswear, which increased by 31.2%.

The outlet’s growth is also bolstered by the arrival of new menswear retailers in 2025, including Men Kind, Ben Sherman, Label Yard, and Søstrene Grene, alongside the relocation and expansion of Crew Clothing.

Looking ahead to 2026, Gloucester Quays is poised to maintain this upward trajectory with exciting new additions such as the indoor leisure climbing centre Clip ‘n Climb, along with several new food and beverage outlets.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, the owner of Gloucester Quays, commented: “These results demonstrate the strength of our diverse tenant mix and the positive impact of strategically curated new arrivals that respond directly to evolving consumer preferences.

“Our strategy of positioning Gloucester Quays as a ‘crossover outlet’ combines retail variety, a vibrant environment, and unique experiences that set us apart. As we prepare for 2026, our focus is on expanding leisure and dining offerings to create a complete day-out destination where retail brands can flourish.

“Set in a distinctive historic waterside setting, Gloucester Quays draws visitors looking for a full day of entertainment and shopping. We are dedicated to continuously enhancing the scheme to establish a new standard for outlet centres and reinforce our position as a leading regional destination.”

Further affirming confidence in the centre, five top fashion brands—including M&S, Adidas, Asics, Eden Menswear, and Joules—have renewed their leases, with Joules planning a significant store refurbishment.
