Charlie Holliday’s return from holiday was marked by exciting news: Bishop’s Cleeve wanted to sign him.
The 22-year-old winger had been enjoying a break in Portugal after a strong finish to last season with Fairford Town in the Hellenic League Premier Division. As he stepped off the plane, Cleeve’s head coach, Liam Harding, reached out, and an agreement was quickly reached to bring him to Kayte Lane.
“Since joining, it’s been great,” said Holliday. “The facilities, especially the 4G pitch, really suit my playing style. It’s been good to hit the ground running in pre-season, and I feel like my performances have reflected that.”

Holliday marked his debut for Bishop’s Cleeve with a goal in a 3-0 victory over Droitwich Spa under manager Paul Collicutt.
Having previously played for Gloucester City, Longlevens, Frome Town, and Melksham Town, the left-footed winger is eager to make his return to Southern League football.
“This move feels like the perfect next step,” he stated. “I’m a direct right winger who enjoys taking defenders on one-on-one, delivering crosses, and scoring goals. I’d describe myself as a technical and skillful player who likes to create chances and contribute to both attack and defense.”
Beyond football, Holliday works as a self-employed delivery driver for a logistics firm and loves traveling abroad with his partner and friends whenever he can. A business management graduate, he also had a trial stint at West Brom’s academy, where he played alongside Everton’s Premier League regular Tim Iroegbunam.
Harding expressed his enthusiasm about securing Holliday’s signature. “I’ve known Charlie for years, since his early days at Longlevens. He went north for university, played Southern League football with Frome and Melksham last season, and finished strongly at Fairford. He fits exactly the profile I want: technical, athletic, and eager to improve.”
Bishop’s Cleeve’s next friendly will be at home against Chippenham Town on Saturday at 3pm.
