Helen Skelton recently shared heartfelt insights on relationship “goals” following speculation about her romance with Morning Live co-presenter Gethin Jones. The 42-year-old presenter, speaking about her BBC show Lost and Found in the Lakes, revealed how the touching stories featured on the programme have inspired her to reflect on the meaning of lasting love.
Filmed in the picturesque Lake District, Lost and Found in the Lakes follows a team of experts who recover lost or stolen precious items from the region’s lakes. Many of these recovered treasures carry deep sentimental value. Helen recalled an especially moving story about a piece of jewellery that was the first gift a man gave to his wife of 40 years.
“It really taps into the value of sentiment, which feels quite old-fashioned nowadays,” Helen told Radio Times Magazine on YouTube. “When we return a long-lost ring, the recipients often reminisce about the day they met decades ago. The old romantic in me thinks, ‘That’s exactly what I want!’ Watching those couples walk away together—that’s life goals.”

She added, “To spend a lifetime with someone, navigating all the ups and downs—jobs, kids, and every challenge life throws at you—and still be holding hands at the end, that’s the true payday.”
Helen was previously married to rugby player Richie Myler, with whom she shares three children. The couple announced their separation in 2022 after eight years of marriage. Since then, Richie has moved on to a new relationship, while Helen has kept her personal life private.
Recent rumours linked Helen romantically to her Morning Live colleague Gethin Jones following reports of spa visits and their close friendship at events like last year’s Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards. However, Helen has consistently denied any romantic involvement. In a December 2025 interview with Prima magazine, she emphasized, “We’re just mates. We work together, that’s it.”
Gethin also described their friendship in a candid interview with The Sun, saying, “We support each other and sometimes need a pep talk. Helen is very passionate, and we look out for each other both on and off camera.”
Despite the rumours, Helen remains focused on her work and cherishes the sentiments around enduring love and partnership highlighted in her latest show.
