British Airways has cancelled all flights from London Heathrow to Dubai and Doha in response to the recent US military strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites ordered by former President Donald Trump. This decision follows the unusual diversion of BA109, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight bound for Dubai, which on Saturday night redirected from its original route to land in Zurich, Switzerland, after reaching Saudi Arabian airspace.
According to flight-tracking data from Flightradar24, BA109 departed London at 9:53 pm and was rerouted midway through its journey. The airline has since confirmed that all scheduled departures and return flights between Heathrow and the Middle East hubs of Dubai and Doha are cancelled for Sunday, reflecting ongoing concerns about passenger and crew safety amid geopolitical instability.
In coordination with regional security measures, Israel has closed its airspace to both inbound and outbound flights due to the heightened risk following the US attacks. The strikes targeted three Iranian nuclear test sites and provoked retaliatory ballistic missile launches by Tehran against Israel, escalating tensions in the region.

British Airways stated, “In light of recent events, we have adjusted our flight schedule to ensure the safety of our customers and crew, which remains our highest priority. We are actively contacting customers with affected bookings to provide options and support.”
To accommodate disrupted travel plans, BA is offering flexible rebooking policies for passengers scheduled to fly between Sunday and Tuesday to Dubai and Doha, allowing travellers to change their dates without penalty as the situation continues to develop.
