‘He is a real weapon for us’ - Gloucester Rugby secure new contract for wing star Ollie Thorley

Gloucester Rugby have officially confirmed that winger Ollie Thorley has signed a new contract running through the 2026/27 season, securing the future of one of their standout players.

A product of Stow on the Wold RFC, Thorley quickly rose through the ranks of the Gloucester Rugby Academy, making his senior debut at just 17 years old against Northampton Saints in 2016. This appearance made him the youngest player in the club’s Premiership history.

Since then, Thorley has become a key figure at Kingsholm. Known for his exceptional try-scoring ability, physical presence, and relentless work ethic, he has been a constant threat on the wing. In 2020, Thorley earned his first and only England senior cap, though injuries have unfortunately interrupted his international progress.

This season, Thorley celebrated a major career milestone, making his 150th appearance for Gloucester during the match against Harlequins. At just 29 years old, he still has many prime years of top-level rugby ahead.

Gloucester head coach George Skivington praised Thorley’s professionalism and impact, saying, “What you see with Ollie is exactly what you get. He’s an incredibly professional and dedicated athlete, and that reflects in his performances.

“When he’s fit and firing, there are few wingers in the league like him. He’s a real weapon for us.

“He’s been at the Club a long time, but he’s still performing at the highest level and making a big impact on the field, which is great to see.”
