‘He is a real weapon for us’ - Gloucester Rugby secure new contract for wing star Ollie Thorley

Gloucester Rugby have announced that star winger Ollie Thorley has signed a new contract extending his stay with the club through the 2026/27 season.

Hailing from Stow on the Wold RFC, Thorley rose swiftly through the Gloucester Rugby Academy ranks. He made his senior debut at just 17 years old against Northampton Saints in 2016, setting a club record as the youngest player to feature in the Premiership.

Since then, Thorley has become a key figure at Kingsholm Stadium. Known for his dynamic try-scoring prowess, physical strength, and tireless work ethic, he has been a consistent threat on the wing. Although injuries have occasionally impacted his progress — limiting his international caps to just one with England in 2020 — he remains a vital part of Gloucester’s lineup.

This season marked a special achievement for Thorley, as he made his 150th appearance for Gloucester in a match against Harlequins. At only 29 years old, he still has many prime years ahead in his rugby career.

Gloucester’s head coach, George Skivington, praised Thorley’s professionalism and impact: “What you see with Ollie is exactly what you get. He’s an incredibly dedicated athlete, and that commitment shines through in his performances. When he’s fit and firing, very few wingers can match him—he’s truly a weapon for us. Having been with the club for so long, continuing to perform at such a high level is fantastic to see.”
