Hartpury College delivered an outstanding performance to secure the Continental Tyres Schools RFU ACE Girls title, defeating Worthing College 43-5 at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium. Head coach Lewis Arnold beamed with pride as his Gloucestershire team dominated the final in front of a passionate crowd.
After a tense opening period with no scores, Ellie Sampson broke the deadlock for Hartpury, sparking momentum that carried the team to a commanding 24-0 halftime lead thanks to tries from Taufa Tuipulotu, Saffiya Smaili, and captain Darcey Howchin. Worthing managed to cross the try line early in the second half, but Hartpury’s relentless attacking play, highlighted by Charlie Williams’ two tries and Abi Griffiths’ late score, sealed a resounding victory.
Arnold was full of praise for his squad’s determination and defensive resilience. “After coming up short in last year’s final, seeing these girls lift the trophy today is truly special. Our defensive discipline was key, and every player gave their all. This win is one of the proudest moments in my coaching career,” he said.
