Harry Pell Departs Cheltenham Town by Mutual Consent

Harry Pell, the 34-year-old midfielder, has left Cheltenham Town by mutual consent, according to sources close to the club. Pell rejoined the Robins in the summer of 2024 on a two-year deal but unfortunately suffered a torn ACL during the final pre-season match before the start of the League Two campaign.

The injury sidelined him for the entirety of last season. Although he has regained fitness this season, Pell’s opportunities have been limited. He started only one league match this term, which ended prematurely when he was sent off before half-time during a heavy 7-1 defeat at Grimsby Town.

He also made two substitute appearances in League Two and featured in the EFL Trophy, but it soon became apparent that new manager Steve Cotterill did not see Pell as part of his plans going forward.

With his contract originally set to expire next summer, both parties agreed to end the relationship early. Pell’s first spell with Cheltenham was marked by success, as he played a key role in securing the National League title in the 2015/16 season.

Since leaving Cheltenham in 2018, Pell has gone on to represent Colchester United, Accrington Stanley, and AFC Wimbledon. He now moves on following his second spell at Whaddon Road.
