Harlie Price has described scoring the late winning goal for Cirencester Town in their FA Cup tie at Farnham Town as the best feeling he has experienced on a football pitch.
Price’s decisive strike, coming in the 90th minute after a cross from Jayden Stratford, secured a 2-1 victory over Farnham Town, a side three leagues above Cirencester. Earlier in the match, National League South opponents took the lead in the 15th minute through Daryl Sanders, followed by Price’s equaliser just before half-time.
This victory is considered one of the finest in Cirencester’s history and sets up an away tie against Truro City in the third qualifying round. The club captain described the moment as “easily the best feeling” he has had in football, recalling it as somewhat of an “out-of-body experience”. He explained that he visualised scoring all day and felt immense pride when it came to fruition.

The forward paid tribute to his fiancée, family and friends who have supported him throughout his time in non-league football, acknowledging how challenging that level can be. He expressed excitement about the upcoming round and said the celebrations after the match were “insane”, especially sharing the joy with travelling fans who sang throughout the evening.
“The changing room atmosphere was electric,” Price said, adding that the night would remain a vivid memory for all involved.
Having previously played for Cheltenham Saracens, Bishop’s Cleeve, Malvern Town and Brimscombe & Thrupp, Price is enjoying his time at Cirencester in the Hellenic League Premier Division. He praised the club’s professional operation and quality facilities, emphasising their ambition to return to the Southern League.
“The ambition here matches perfectly what I want from my football career,” he added. Price pointed out that non-league success is built on the dedication of those behind the scenes, and Cirencester benefits from a strong support network.
Looking ahead to the tie with Truro City, who were in the National League last season but are now in National League South, Price welcomes the challenge of facing higher-ranked opposition. Truro progressed by defeating Merthyr Town in the second qualifying round.
“It doesn’t get much harder than that at this stage of the competition, but that’s exactly what we want,” he said. “Ultimately, we know winning the FA Cup is unlikely, but playing against bigger sides is a fantastic experience. An away draw means our fans have something to look forward to, and we intend to give it our all once again.”
