Hakeeb Adelakun has officially signed with League One side Doncaster Rovers after a brief but notable spell at Cheltenham Town.
The 29-year-old forward impressed during his time with Cheltenham, netting three goals in six starts and playing a key role in helping the team secure a 13-point cushion above the relegation zone.
Born in Hackney, Adelakun began the season unattached following his departure from Salford City in July. In early November, he became Cheltenham’s third signing since Steve Cotterill’s managerial return, agreeing to a two-month contract. Adelakun made his debut as an 87th-minute substitute in the 2-1 home loss to Notts County.

Gradually earning more playing time, he earned his first start in the FA Cup second-round match against Buxton on December 6. Regaining match fitness, Adelakun found his scoring touch around Christmas, opening his Cheltenham account with a goal in a 2-1 victory over Barrow on December 19, followed by a Boxing Day strike in a 3-1 home win against Shrewsbury Town.
His final appearance for the Robins came as a substitute against Crawley Town, where he scored the crucial opening goal in a 3-0 triumph. This marked his 12th and final game before moving on.
Adelakun reunites with Doncaster Rovers, managed by former Cheltenham midfielder Grant McCann. The forward previously had a successful loan spell at Doncaster earlier in 2024, scoring nine goals in 18 starts. During that campaign, he featured in the play-off final at Wembley, where Doncaster fell 2-0 to Crewe Alexandra.
Following that season, Adelakun signed for Salford City, scoring his first two goals for them in a comeback win against Cheltenham Town. He came off the bench to secure a 2-1 victory, where Cheltenham’s Ethan Archer had earlier scored his maiden EFL goal.
