Grim State of Abandoned Gloucester Bus That Became a Drugs Den

An abandoned red London-branded bus has been removed from Gloucester city centre after becoming a hotspot for drug use, rough sleeping, and anti-social behaviour. The disused vehicle, once used as an outdoor bar, was left on a former garage site at the corner of Bull Lane and Cross Keys Lane, owned by Gloucester City Council.

Despite repeated requests for its removal, the bus remained on site and quickly turned into a magnet for criminal activities. The council reported that drug paraphernalia scattered around the bus created a significant health hazard. Specialist teams had to clear the area before safely towing the bus away.

Reports revealed the bus was not just a place for drug taking but also for drug dealing and the distribution of stolen goods. Vulnerable individuals, including lone females climbing over walls to access the area, raised serious safety concerns.

Morag Gordon, Gloucester City Council’s engagement officer, stated, “Anti-social behaviour will not go unchallenged in our city. Removing this bus eliminated a dangerous space used for crime and drug activity, making the area safer for everyone.”

Councillor Jeremy Hilton, leader of Gloucester City Council, added, “This bus had become a magnet for crime and drug use right in the heart of our city. Its removal reclaims this space for the community and sends a clear message that Gloucester will not tolerate anything that threatens public safety.”

The council affirmed it will continue working with partners to monitor the site and prevent further issues, ensuring the city centre remains clean, safe, and welcoming for all.
