Prue Leith, the beloved judge of The Great British Bake Off, has announced she is stepping down after nine memorable series. The 86-year-old shared the news on Instagram, reflecting that it “feels like the right time” to move on from the Channel 4 baking competition.

In her heartfelt message, Prue wrote, “After nine series and judging more than 400 challenges, I have decided to step down as a judge on The Great British Bake Off.” She expressed immense gratitude for her time on the show and the relationships she’s built with fellow judges Paul Hollywood, Alison Hammond, and Noel Fielding.

“Bake Off has been a fabulous part of my life for the last nine years. I’ve genuinely loved every moment and I’m sure I’ll miss working with Paul, Alison, Noel, and the incredible teams at Love Productions and Channel 4,” she shared. “But now feels like the right time to step back—it’s time to enjoy other things, like spending my summers in the garden.”

Taking over from Mary Berry when the show moved from BBC to Channel 4 in 2017, Prue has been a fixture of warmth, wisdom, and expertise in the tent. Her departure marks the end of an era for the popular baking show.

Fans quickly reacted with sadness and appreciation. One commented, “You will be a very hard act to follow.” Another wrote, “Thanks for bringing joy and love into our homes. GBBO has been a sanctuary amidst the chaos of the world.” Many echoed sentiments of gratitude for the smiles and laughter she brought to viewers.

Channel 4 paid tribute by posting a photo of Prue alongside Paul, Alison, and Noel, stating, “After a decade of delivering the most iconic lines, Prue Leith is leaving the Bake Off tent. We’ll miss you, Prue!”

As she closes this chapter, Prue looks forward to new adventures beyond the tent, leaving behind a legacy that will be fondly remembered by fans and colleagues alike.
