Nadiya Hussain, the beloved 2015 Great British Bake Off champion, has revealed the BBC’s choice not to renew her acclaimed cooking show, marking a significant moment in her decade-long career.
In a candid Instagram video, the 40-year-old culinary icon said, “The BBC have decided that they didn’t want to commission my show. And for me, that was a huge turning point because it’s something I’ve done for the past ten years.”
Reflecting on this change, Nadiya shared how the decision clarified her career goals. “I was already on this steady trajectory of change and thinking about where I wanted my career to go. When the BBC decided not to commission the show anymore, it really solidified everything for me. It made me dig my heels in and think, ‘OK, I know where I want to be.'”

Despite the setback, Nadiya remains optimistic, eager to embrace new opportunities with greater control over her work. She said, “There have been lots of exciting changes in my career, and I’m looking forward to taking back a bit of ownership of what I do, how I do it, and who I work with. That freedom is something I haven’t had in the last ten years.”
Nadiya has captivated audiences through a series of popular BBC programs, including Nadiya Bakes, Nadiya’s Fast Flavours, and Nadiya’s Simple Spices, along with regular appearances on The One Show. While her cooking show will not continue, the BBC has expressed its desire to maintain a working relationship with her.
A BBC spokesperson commented, “After several wonderful series, we have made the difficult decision not to commission another cookery show with Nadiya Hussain at the moment. Nadiya remains a much-valued part of the BBC family, and we look forward to working together on future projects.”
Since winning the Great British Bake Off more than a decade ago, Nadiya has built an impressive career. She launched The Chronicles of Nadiya on BBC One, later joined the Junior Bake Off judging panel, and aired an eight-part series, Nadiya’s British Food Adventure.
Her success extends beyond television, with bestselling cookbooks such as Nadiya’s Kitchen, Nadiya’s Every Day Baking, and Cook Once, Eat Twice. Additionally, she has authored novels, including The Secret Lives of the Amir Sisters, Spreading My Wings, and Today I’m Strong.
Fans can continue to enjoy Nadiya’s work through streaming platforms, where shows like Nadiya’s Fast Flavours, Nadiya’s Simple Spices, and Nadiya Bakes remain available.
