A commanding 125-run partnership between Beau Webster and Dan Mousley, combined with a brilliant bowling performance from Usman Tariq, propelled Warwickshire to a comfortable 30-run victory over Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast at Edgbaston.
Webster scored a rapid 78 off 44 balls, while Mousley remained unbeaten on 72 from 36 deliveries, guiding the Bears to a total of 203. Gloucestershire began their chase strongly, led by a 56-run powerplay partnership between D’Arcy Short and Dawid Malan.
However, Usman Tariq’s exceptional spell of 4 overs, 3 wickets for just 12 runs proved decisive. Despite Jack Taylor’s late unbeaten 48 from 28 balls, the Glosters were unable to recover, falling short and ending hopes of building on Saturday’s 57-run win over Surrey.

Warwickshire’s innings started aggressively, with Zen Malik scoring 32 from 19 balls as the team reached 33 without loss after three overs. But their run rate slowed following Malik’s dismissal. Subsequent wickets fell quickly, including Sam Hain, who had impressed earlier with an unbeaten 131 in two innings this week.
At 69 for 3, Webster and Mousley took the attack to Gloucestershire, putting on an explosive 125-run partnership off just 57 balls. The intensity peaked mid-innings when a contentious moment saw Mousley react strongly after Marchant de Lange nearly caught him out of his ground and attempted a direct hit at the stumps, which Mousley responded to with two consecutive sixes.
Chasing 204, Gloucestershire seemed poised for a strong response after surviving an early wicket chance when Richard Gleeson nearly dismissed D’Arcy Short with his first delivery. Malan and Short capitalized on the powerplay, hitting boundaries and cruising to 56 without loss.
But Tariq soon changed the game with his mystery spin, picking up Malan, Liam Scott, and others to derail Gloucestershire’s innings. Although Webster, Mousley, and Thompson chipped in with wickets late on, Gloucestershire couldn’t regain momentum.
In the end, despite Jack Taylor’s resilient late innings, Gloucestershire’s chase faltered, handing Warwickshire a well-earned win and four valuable points. The result leaves Gloucestershire’s postseason hopes hanging by a thread as the Vitality Blast heads into its final two fixtures.
