Warwickshire secured a commanding 30-run victory over Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast’s Central & West Group at Edgbaston, significantly denting Gloucestershire’s hopes in the T20 Blast playoffs. A brilliant 125-run partnership between Beau Webster and Dan Mousley, combined with Usman Tariq’s outstanding bowling, powered Warwickshire to a competitive total and ultimately, a comfortable win.
Webster was the star with a rapid 78 off 44 balls, while Mousley remained unbeaten on 72 off just 36 deliveries, propelling the Bears to a strong 203 runs. Gloucestershire got off to a promising start in their chase, with D’Arcy Short and Dawid Malan putting together a 56-run powerplay, offering early momentum.
However, the game turned decisively when Tariq (4 overs, 12 runs, 3 wickets) delivered a spell of mystery spin that disrupted Gloucestershire’s innings. His wickets included key dismissals that halted the Glosters’ chase. Despite a valiant late effort from Jack Taylor, who scored an unbeaten 48 off 28 balls, Gloucestershire’s innings lost steam.

Warwickshire’s innings had a shaky beginning, reaching 33 without loss after three overs, thanks mainly to Zen Malik’s quick 32 off 19 balls. But once Malik was dismissed, the Bears slowed and wickets tumbled, including Sam Hain’s dismissal for a low score after a strong previous week.
It was the partnership between Webster and Mousley that turned the tide, taking the Bears from a precarious position of 69 for 3 to a commanding total. The midway point saw Warwickshire well set, and their pressure only increased when Mousley clashed with de Lange amidst an intense moment on the field, punctuated by Mousley’s back-to-back sixes.
Gloucestershire faced an uphill battle after losing Short early in the chase. Malan showed promise with his aggressive stroke play during the powerplay, but Tariq’s spin dismantled their center order, taking Malan, Scott, and others cheaply.
In the end, Gloucestershire couldn’t recover from Tariq’s game-changing bowling, and despite contributions from lower-order batsmen, the hosts sealed the win. This defeat means Gloucestershire remains in second place in the standings, holding their position only through net run rate, and intensifies the race for playoff spots as the group stage nears its conclusion.
