Gloucestershire’s B4215 Ledbury Road to Close Overnight for Nearly Two Weeks for Resurfacing

The B4215 Ledbury Road, connecting Newent and Dymock in Gloucestershire, will undergo crucial resurfacing work resulting in overnight closures for 12 nights between 7pm and 7am. The closures will begin on the evening of April 28 and continue until May 14, excluding weekends and the Bank Holiday on Monday, May 4.

The resurfacing will cover approximately 1.5 miles between Welsh House Lane and Three Ashes Lane, near Newent Cricket Club. However, the road closure will extend beyond this area, affecting adjacent side roads including Coldharbour Lane and Three Ashes Lane to ensure safe and efficient completion of the work.

Gloucestershire County Council’s Highways team has arranged a diversion for all vehicle types, directing drivers westwards along the B4215 Ross Road toward Ross-on-Wye for over seven miles, then north to Preston Cross before heading back to Dymock. While shorter routes exist, this path is recommended as it suits all vehicle classes and ensures smoother traffic flow.

Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure, allowing residents to reach their properties. However, parking on the closed sections of the road will not be permitted during closure hours, and vehicles left obstructing the works may be towed.

In a recent letter to local residents, the Highways team acknowledged the inconvenience but stressed the importance of safety. They explained that the closure covers a wider area than the resurfacing itself to accommodate machinery and materials needed for the job. The team also emphasized that they have scheduled the work to minimize disruption and complete it as swiftly as possible.
