Gloucestershire is on track to see a significant rise in temperatures, with the latest weather models projecting highs reaching up to 32C within days. After a record-breaking May heatwave that brought unprecedented temperatures exceeding 35C, the region has experienced a return to more typical weather, including some thunderstorms and heavy rain.
However, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) data indicates that warm conditions are about to make a comeback starting June 15. Temperatures around 29C are forecasted in the southeast of England, with the northwest and parts of central Scotland expected to see highs of approximately 28C and 24C, respectively.
By June 16, temperatures could climb even higher, with the southeast possibly reaching 32C, while northern England might see 29C to 30C, and eastern England and South Yorkshire could experience around 31C. Temperature anomaly maps reveal widespread areas across England, Wales, and southern Scotland glowing deep red, highlighting regions forecasted to exceed seasonal averages significantly.

In total, up to 21 English counties could record temperatures of 30C or more during this period. Although these readings are high, they do not yet meet the criteria for an official heatwave designation in the UK, which requires temperatures to hit county-specific heatwave thresholds for three consecutive days.
The Met Office outlook for June 7 to 16 suggests that high pressure will bring more settled, warmer weather, particularly in southern regions, with temperatures generally above normal. Nevertheless, the forecast also warns that heavy showers and thunderstorms remain a possibility, hinting at some variability despite the overall warming trend.
