Gloucestershire could soon experience a return to warm weather, with advanced forecasting models indicating temperatures may climb to 32C within the next few days.
After an exceptional May heatwave, which saw record-breaking temperatures above 35C, the region has cooled back to more typical levels this week. The UK has even faced thunderstorms and heavy rainfall recently. However, warmer days are on the horizon once again.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) model forecasts rising temperatures starting from June 15. Southern England may see highs of 29C, while the north-west could reach 28C. Central Scotland is expected to enjoy milder weather with temperatures up to 24C.

By June 16, temperatures could surge further, with potential highs of 32C in the south-east. Northern England may experience 29C to 30C, and the east of England, including South Yorkshire, could reach 31C.
Temperature anomaly maps for June 16 highlight deep red zones across England, Wales, and southern Scotland, signaling temperatures significantly above the seasonal average.
According to the ECMWF data, up to 21 counties across England may reach or exceed 30C during this period.
While the UK defines an official heatwave as temperatures exceeding specific thresholds—between 25C and 28C depending on the location—for three consecutive days, this forecast does not yet indicate a formal heatwave declaration.
The Met Office’s outlook from June 7 to 16 suggests “high pressure and more settled conditions” developing, especially in southern England. For the rest of June, temperatures are expected to remain above average, with some southern regions experiencing hot spells alongside the possibility of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
