Gloucestershire have announced the loan signing of promising fast bowler Che Simmons from Warwickshire, ahead of a permanent two-year contract set to begin in the 2027 season. The 22-year-old seamer will join Gloucestershire for the remainder of their 2026 County Championship campaign, providing additional firepower to their bowling attack.
Simmons has already gained valuable first-class experience, featuring for Warwickshire in Division One of the County Championship. Over seven innings, he claimed 10 wickets, including an impressive three-wicket haul on his debut against Essex in 2024.
Expressing his enthusiasm about the move, Simmons said: “I’m very excited to be joining Gloucestershire. It’s a fresh challenge and one I’m really looking forward to embracing. The chance to play regular first-team cricket was a big factor in my decision.

“I’m eager to get started, work hard with the coaches and new teammates, and hopefully contribute to the team’s success across all formats.
“I see this as a great opportunity for the next stage of my development and can’t wait to play in front of the Gloucestershire supporters. I’m also looking forward to getting to know everyone at the club and making some great memories along the way.”
Jon Lewis, Gloucestershire’s director of cricket, welcomed Simmons to the club, highlighting his athleticism and potential impact. “We’re really excited to bring Che to Gloucestershire. He’s a hugely talented young cricketer with a very high ceiling. While he has played extensively for Warwickshire’s second team, we believe this is a chance for him to take the next step and demonstrate his abilities at first-team level.
“He is a genuine athlete who bowls with good pace, providing a real point of difference to our bowling options. Additionally, he’s a clean striker of the ball, adding further dimension to his game.
“Beyond his skills, Che is a brilliant young person with enormous potential. We’re delighted he has chosen to continue his development with Gloucestershire. I look forward to working closely with him to help him fulfil that promise.”
Born in Barbados, Simmons represented the island at Under-15 level and first gained attention after taking all 10 wickets in an innings while playing for the Franklyn Stephenson Academy. He holds a British passport and qualifies to represent England through residency, adding further excitement about his future prospects as one of county cricket’s brightest emerging fast bowlers.
