Gloucestershire has announced the signing of promising Australian all-rounder Liam Scott for their 2026 Vitality Blast campaign. The club also confirmed that Scott will participate in two County Championship away matches against Worcestershire and Northamptonshire during breaks between the Blast fixtures next June.
Born and bred in Sydney, Scott is considered one of Australia’s brightest young cricketing prospects. Developed through the South Australia and Adelaide Strikers pathways, the right-arm seamer made his Big Bash League debut just eight days after turning 20. Since then, he has cemented his place as a regular in the Strikers’ squad.
2024 has seen Scott deliver some of his most explosive performances, including a standout innings against the Perth Scorchers where he scored 67 runs off 43 balls, featuring four fours and five sixes.

Joining fellow Adelaide Striker D’Arcy Short in the Gloucestershire lineup, Scott will be part of a talented ensemble that includes returning star Short and new signing Dawid Malan. Scott represents South Australia in red-ball cricket and currently contributes significantly to his team’s third-place standing in the Sheffield Shield.
Notably, he crafted a match-winning 147 against Tasmania—a team bolstered by Gloucestershire’s new fast bowler Gabe Bell. With the ball, Scott has been equally effective, opening the bowling in five Shield matches this season and taking 12 wickets with an impressive 35 maidens, ranking him third in the competition for maidens bowled.
His wickets include prominent names such as former Gloucestershire player Cameron Green and Australian Test opener Jake Weatherald. On the international stage, Scott has featured for Australia A in an unofficial ODI series against India in Kanpur, highlighted by a powerful 73-run innings off 64 balls punctuated by six sixes during a record seventh-wicket partnership.
Reflecting on the move, Scott said, “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Gloucestershire for the 2026 season. The opportunity to play the full T20 Blast campaign and contribute in two Championship games is exciting. Gloucestershire’s history with top Australian overseas players inspires me, and I look forward to helping bring success to the club. I can’t wait to meet everyone and showcase what I bring to the team.”
Director of Cricket Jon Lewis expressed enthusiasm for Scott’s addition: “Liam is an exciting young all-rounder with rising stock in Australian cricket. After careful scouting for the best emerging all-rounders, we identified Liam’s skills as a perfect fit to balance our squad for the T20 Blast. We’ve heard excellent reports and eagerly anticipate his arrival. His availability for County Championship matches adds further value. Gloucestershire has proudly hosted notable Australian all-rounders before, and we believe Liam can be the next standout overseas star at the club.”
