Gloucestershire Cricket Club has enthusiastically announced the loan signing of talented young fast bowler Che Simmons from Warwickshire. The 22-year-old seamer will represent Gloucestershire for the remainder of the 2026 County Championship season before joining the club on a permanent two-year contract starting in 2027.
Simmons has already gained valuable first-class experience, having played for Warwickshire in Division One of the County Championship. Over seven innings, he claimed 10 wickets, including an impressive three-wicket haul on his debut against Essex in 2024.
Reflecting on his move, Simmons said, “I’m very excited to be joining Gloucestershire. It’s a fresh challenge for me and one I’m really looking forward to embracing. The opportunity to play regular first-team cricket was a big factor in my decision.

“I’m eager to get started, to work hard with the coaches and new teammates, and to contribute to the team’s success across all formats. This is a great opportunity for the next stage of my development, and I can’t wait to play in front of the Gloucestershire supporters.
“I look forward to getting to know everyone at the club and making some great memories along the way.”
Jon Lewis, Gloucestershire’s director of cricket, expressed confidence in Simmons’s potential impact. “We’re really excited to bring Che to Gloucestershire. He’s a highly talented young cricketer with a very high ceiling. Although he’s played extensively for Warwickshire’s second team, we believe this move offers him the chance to take the next step and demonstrate his abilities at first-team level.
“He represents a genuine point of difference with his bowling-he’s a true athlete who bowls with good pace. Additionally, he’s a clean striker of the ball, which adds another dimension to his game.
“But, most importantly, he’s a wonderful young person with enormous potential. We’re delighted he has chosen Gloucestershire to continue his development, and we look forward to working closely with him to help fulfil that potential.”
Simmons was born in Barbados and represented the island at Under-15 level. He first came to prominence after taking all 10 wickets in an innings while playing for the Franklyn Stephenson Academy. Holding a British passport and qualifying to represent England through residency, Simmons is regarded as one of the county circuit’s most promising emerging fast bowlers.
