Gloucestershire Secure Consecutive Wins with Dismissal of Lancashire at Old Trafford

Gloucestershire celebrated their second successive victory in Division Two, registering only their third red-ball win of the summer, by swiftly dismissing Lancashire in under an hour on the final day at Old Trafford.

Lancashire resumed their innings at 120 for six, requiring an additional 128 runs for victory. However, the visitors struck early when George Balderson edged the third ball bowled by JT Langridge to Ollie Price at second slip.

Soon after, Noman Ali was adjudged plumb in front by Langridge, and Mitch Stanley was the next to go, offering a catch to Kamran Dhariwal at silly mid-off off Sai Kishore’s bowling.

Rocky Flintoff, who had remained unbeaten on 57 overnight, was the final wicket to fall, concluding with a career-best score of 65 by driving Langridge to long-off. This dismissal secured Langridge’s impressive figures of five wickets for 51 runs, achieved in just his second first-class match on loan from Somerset.

With this win, Gloucestershire now have 82 points in the Division Two standings. They remain 18 points behind second-from-bottom Lancashire, with two rounds of fixtures still to play.

Gloucestershire will conclude their campaign with a home match against Middlesex commencing on Tuesday, followed by an away fixture at Kent starting a week on Thursday.
