Gloucestershire Schoolboy Remembered as “The Light of Our Lives” Following Tragic Railway Death

The community of the Cotswolds has been deeply shaken by the tragic loss of 15-year-old Harrison Aylott, a much-loved schoolboy described by his family as “the light in our lives.”

Harrison lost his life on the railway line near Blockley on the evening of June 8. British Transport Police responded to the scene at 8 pm, but despite the efforts of emergency services, he could not be saved. The police have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

In a heartfelt tribute, Harrison’s family remembered him as a kind-hearted boy with an infectious spirit. “Our beautiful boy Harrison had everyone laughing within minutes of being in his company,” they said. They highlighted the special bond he shared with his brothers and how seeing them laugh together brought them immense joy. Friends have also expressed how cherished Harrison was and the happiness he brought to their lives. His family has asked anyone with photos of Harrison to share them, emphasizing how precious these memories are during such a painful time.

Harrison attended The Cotswold School, where he was in Year 11. The school community was informed of his passing the following morning and released a statement expressing their sorrow. They described Harrison as a warm, genuine, and positive presence who had quickly become a valued member of the school since January. “He brightened our school and embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm,” they said, noting he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Tributes have also poured in from Stow on the Wold Rugby Club, where Harrison was a former member of the Under-16s squad. The club expressed heartbreak at the loss of such a young life and emphasized their support for one another through this difficult period.

Harrison’s untimely death has left a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, schoolmates, and the wider community. Their message is clear: though the pain is immeasurable, Harrison’s spirit will live on in the memories and love of all who knew him.
